History of Science / Kungfu- Kung Fu Martial Arts is the martial arts of China. So we are familiar with chinese kungfu. However, the meaning of kung fu that actually has a broad meaning, ie, something that obtained in a long time and with perseverance earnest. So great an expert cook who can be said to have a high kungfu.


In addition to the word of kung fu, wushu and kun dao term is also often used to refer to martial arts of China. While the science of martial arts that has spread to Southeast Asia (especially Indonesia) in the past called Kuntao, according to Donn Draeger in his book entitled Weapons and Fighting Arts of Indonesia. Kung Fu is a martial art of self defense techniques and a unique attack on opponents of the country of China. There is a traditional story (legend) about Buddhist pastor named Dharma which according to the story of Pastor Dharma derived from Brahmin tribe in south India. At one point, Pastor Dharma went to mainland China about the year 500 AD and finally arrived in the area of Liang. In the capital Ching-Kang, he gives lessons and exercises of self-defense in addition to religious instruction. FLOW-FLOW OF KUNG FU:

Since the destruction of the Temple Siaw Liem kung fu schools developed into 2 (two) streams, which are called:
- Hardware flow
- Gentle flow

Hard flow:
Flow developed in many areas and into northern China and Mongolia, with the characteristic movements, among others: the attack is always offensive and aggressive, while the mainstay or efficacy is footwork (kick), long jump and fast. The nature of the flow is centered on the speed and coordination of movements and physical strength. The flow of more use and rely on external power or physical strength.

Gentle Flow:
Flow developed in many parts of the South China region with the characteristics of movement, among others, always mild and slow blow. Target sudden blow directed always to the eyes, genitals, heartburn, and neck. While the mainstay or efficacy of the movement is a blow, scratching or clawing and strangulation. The nature of these flows based on tenderness, unity between "soul and body" and the power must be harmonized with the breathing motion. This stream is relying more heavily on the strength of "in" or "inner".

From both these streams, in accordance with its development has been widely combine these streams are eventually called "Flow Nan Pe" or also known as "North Stream South".

Famous Shaolin Monastery, founded by a Buddhist priest india, Batou, in the year 495 AD, under the protection of the emperor Xiao Wen DI of northern Wei dynasty.   1. Is there any difference between kung-fu and karate? I heard some organization teaches Best Karate in Connecticut but which will be best for learning kung-fu?
